چکیده

As the technology for building knowledge based systems has matured, important lessons have been learned about the relationship between the architec ture of a system and the nature of the problems it is intended to solve. We are implementing a knowledge engineering tool called BART that is designed with these lessons in mind. BART is a Bayesian reason ing tool that makes belief networks and other prob abilistic techniques available to knowledge engineers building classificatory problem solvers. BART has already been used to develop a decision aid for clas sifying ship images, and it is currently being used to manage uncertainty in systems concerned with analyzing intelligence reports. This paper discusses how state-of-the-art probabilistic methods fit nat urally into a knowledge based approach to classifi catory problem solving, and describes the current capabilities of BART.

Load-Frequency Control: a GA based Bayesian Networks Multi-agent System

Bayesian Networks (BN) provides a robust probabilistic method of reasoning under uncertainty. They have been successfully applied in a variety of real-world tasks but they have received little attention in the area of load-frequency control (LFC). In practice, LFC systems use proportional-integral controllers. However since these controllers are designed using a linear model, the nonlinearities...

The Effect of Bayesian Reasoning Training on the Results of Clinical Reasoning Tests of Interns

Introduction: Clinical reasoning includes a range of thinking about clinical medicine at all stages of patient evaluation. Bayesian theory can be used to refute or confirm differential diagnoses in the clinical reasoning process. In this way, by learning the basic mathematical language of probability in medicine, we can change our beliefs according to new evidence. The aim of this study is to i...

Bayesian Networks

In the mid-1980s a new trend in probabilistic reasoning with uncertainty in knowledge-based systems became discernable taking a graphical representation of knowledge as a point of departure. We use the phrase network models to denote this type of model In the preceding sections, we have concentrated primarily on models for plausible reasoning that were developed especially for knowledge-based s...

A Bayesian Networks Approach to Reliability Analysis of a Launch Vehicle Liquid Propellant Engine

This paper presents an extension of Bayesian networks (BN) applied to reliability analysis of an open gas generator cycle Liquid propellant engine (OGLE) of launch vehicles. There are several methods for system reliability analysis such as RBD, FTA, FMEA, Markov Chains, and etc. But for complex systems such as LV, they are not all efficiently applicable due to failure dependencies between compo...

TakeHeart II: A tool to support clinical cardiovascular risk assessment

Bayesian networks are powerful reasoning engines for decision support systems, due to their accomodation for a wide range of queries, and clear presentation of independence assumptions. However, their practical use hinges on an accessible presentation of the knowledge they represent: a user should be exposed to only the functionality they need to get their job done. We desired to build a softwa...
